Why Georgian Organic Wine?

There is no country in the world where older traces of winemaking have been found than in the area of present-day Georgia. Thousands of years ago, people in this region were crushing grapes and fermenting them in underground clay amphorae (Kvevris) to make wine. Some of our wines are still produced using this ancient method. You can learn more about this topic in our blog.

Our varieties

saperavi-georgian-red-wine-grapes

Saperavi

Saperavi is the most widely cultivated grape variety for Georgian red wine. Saperavi wines have a very dark color and come with aromas of blackberries and other dark fruits, with some smoky notes.

rkatsiteli-georgian-white-wine-grapes

Rkatsiteli

Rkatsiteli, which translates to “red horn,” is the most common white grape variety in Georgia. It is mainly grown in Kakheti. We produce our Rkatsiteli wines both in Kvevri and stainless steel tanks.

khikhvi-georgian-white-wine-grapes

Khikhvi

In the early 2000s, Khikhvi was nearly extinct in Georgia. However, in recent years, this variety has regained great popularity. We produce only dry Khikhvi wines, although the variety could also be used for semi-sweet and sweet wines.

kisi-georgian-amber-wine

Kisi

The Kisi grape is used for white, amber, and orange wines. It is native to the Kakheti region. After nearly becoming extinct 25 years ago, Kisi has experienced a recent renaissance.

jghia-georgian-red-wine-grapes

Jghia

Jghia is a rare Georgian grape variety used for red wines. Jghia wines are lighter, more delicate, and fruitier compared to Saperavi wines. We produce only about 10 bottles per year.

Our philosophy

Letting Nature Take Its Course

For our wines, we exclusively use grapes from our own vineyard, where we intervene as little as possible in the natural processes to preserve the authenticity of the terroir. Our philosophy is based on sustainable soil and plant management. Apart from a few targeted and biologically certified plant protection measures, we let nature take its course, thereby promoting the natural balance in the vineyard.

No Irrigation, No Soil Tillage

We do not irrigate our vines, instead relying on natural rainfall, which encourages the roots to grow deep into the soil to extract minerals and nutrients. The soil structure remains largely untouched: We refrain from using machines that could compact the soil and avoid any interventions that would disturb the natural balance. We only trim the grass in the vineyard and leave it to enrich the soil with nutrients and foster biodiversity.

Clean Cellar, Pure Wine

In the cellar, our philosophy follows the same principle of purity. Hygiene is the most important principle in winemaking for us. When healthy grapes are processed in an absolutely clean environment, we believe the wine doesn’t need any artificial additives.

We hope you enjoy discovering our Georgian natural wines!
