Natural wines from Georgia

Why did you move from Switzerland to Georgia? That’s probably the question I get asked the most. And the answer? Over the course of many journeys, I slowly fell in love – with the mild climate, the wild beauty of the landscape, the warmth of the people, and last but not least, with Georgian wine.

I was especially taken with the powerful, full-bodied amber and red wines from Kakheti. With Inavarde Wines, I’ve fulfilled a lifelong dream. I strive to preserve Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions and combine them with modern insights. The result is wines that I love to drink myself: honest natural wines with rough edges, depth, and character.

INAVARDE WINES

Inavarde Wines is a small, owner-operated winery from Georgia. In our cellar in eastern Georgia’s Kakheti region, we produce natural wines from the Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Kisi, and Khikhvi grape varieties, which we grow in our nearby organic vineyard.

A large part of our wines is made using the ancient Qvevri method, which has been recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Inavarde Wines was made possible thanks to the support of more than 70 co-founders. A heartfelt thank-you to all of you!

WHAT DOES INAVARDE MEAN?

Inavarde is one of these wonderful Georgian words that have no equivalent in English. But we try to explain it to you: It means something like «Be free like a bird» or «Let yourself go and enjoy it to the fullest».

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Inavarde Wines is a small, family-owned winery from Georgia. In our cellar in eastern Georgia’s Kakheti region, we produce natural wines from the grape varieties Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Kisi, and Khikhvi, which we cultivate in our nearby organic vineyard. A large part of our organic wines is produced using the kvevri method, which is recognized as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

We see wine as a gift from nature—a product influenced by soil, vegetation, sun, rainfall, and wind. These factors interact in new ways every year, creating unique conditions that are reflected in our wines. We let nature take its course and only intervene when absolutely necessary.

Organic Vineyard

In our vineyard, we interfere as little as possible with natural processes to preserve the authenticity of the terroir. Apart from a few targeted and biologically certified plant protection measures, we let nature run free and thus promote the natural balance in the vineyard.

We do not irrigate our vines but rely on natural rainfall, encouraging the roots to grow deep into the soil to draw minerals and nutrients from the earth. The soil structure remains largely untouched: we avoid using machines that could compact the soil and refrain from any interventions that might disrupt the natural balance.

No Additives in the Cellar

Our philosophy of purity also applies in the cellar. Hygiene is our most important principle in winemaking. When healthy grapes are processed in an absolutely clean environment, we believe the wine does not need any artificial additives.

From the first sip of an Inavarde wine, you realize you're in the right place. The winery is very authentic. Fabio made a great effort when he settled in this beautiful village to produce wine from scratch. I appreciate Fabio's work very much.

When Fabio bought his vineyard, it became clear to us parents that we would support him as co-founders. We are proud of the brave step he took. This summer, we visited his vineyard and met great vinegrower Vano and his nice wife Lali. And of course, we tasted Inavarde's delicious wines.

As a small co-founder, I personally wanted to see what I had supported. Fabio and his team work with joy, heart, and soul to produce high-quality organic wine. A really beautiful country with extremely nice people, I can only recommend a trip to Georgia to taste the wine on-site.
