Organic Vineyard in Georgia

Our vineyard is located in the eastern Georgian wine region of Kakheti, more precisely in the fertile Alazani Valley. We are part of Kindzmarauli Mirozone, one of the world’s best growing areas for Saperavi, but also for our other three endemic varieties Kisi, Rkatsiteli, and Khikhvi.

Our vineyard is located between the small town of Kvareli and the village of Sanavardo in the middle of a vast plain – far away from civilization and surrounded only by trees, other vineyards, nut and fruit orchards.

Frequently Asked Questions

DO YOU IRRIGATE YOUR VINEYARD?

No, we do not irrigate our vineyard. We aim to discourage the development of superficial roots, encouraging instead a deep penetration into the soil, where essential minerals reside. Unfortunately, climate change poses increasing challenges for us and other winemakers in Kakheti. Summers are becoming longer, hotter, and drier. We hope to maintain our practices without irrigation for as long as possible.

WHAT DO YOU PLANT BETWEEN THE VINES?

In the beginning we planted beans. In the next few years we would like to try strawberries, pumpkin and alfalfa (lucerne). We are always open for exciting inputs and ideas.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO VISIT YOUR VINEYARD?

Of course, we would love to. If you are interested, contact us and tell us when you would like to come by. We will be happy to show you the vineyard and round off your visit with a few glasses of wine in our Marani.
