Our first cuvée, crafted from the grape varieties Kisi and Khikhvi, co-fermented in a kvevri.

What Makes This Cuvée Special

  • Hand-picked grapes from organic farming
  • Fermented on the skins in a kvevri
  • 100% Georgian natural wine with no additives
  • Natural, unsulfured, minimal intervention
  • Bottled in our own cellar, personally by the winemaker

Taste and Style

This dry, medium-bodied amber wine is characterized by delicate aromas of dried apricots, peach, and honey, paired with subtle herbal notes.

Grape Varieties Used

For this cuvée, we used 60% Kisi and 40% Khikhvi, both harvested on the same day from the same vineyard. Kisi and Khikhvi are ancient Kakhetian grape varieties used to produce white, amber, and orange wines.

Wine Production in Kvevri

For this 2024 Kisi orange wine, we crushed the hand-harvested and carefully pre-sorted grapes and placed the entire mash into a kvevri—an ancient clay amphora buried in the ground. As with all our wines, fermentation was driven by the native yeast cultures naturally present on the grape skins (spontaneous fermentation).

After one month of skin contact, we racked the juice and let it rest in the kvevri for another five months. The wine was then transferred to a stainless steel tank for further aging prior to bottling.

Producer

Inavarde Wines is a small, owner-operated winery in Eniseli, a village in the eastern Georgian region of Kakheti. The estate was founded in 2020 by Swiss expat Fabio Bolognese. Inavarde Wines produces roughly 4,000 to 5,000 bottles of natural wine annually from the organic grapes of its own vineyard. Around 900 bottles were produced of this cuvée.

Our Philosophy

We believe that healthy vines and pristine, high-quality grapes are the most essential prerequisites for great wine. That is why we dedicate so much labor and passion to our organic vineyard. In the cellar, we intervene only when strictly necessary.

Origin: Kakheti

Kakheti, situated in eastern Georgia, is the country’s premier wine-producing region. Three-quarters of all Georgian wine originates here. The continental climate—marked by hot summers and cool nights—along with mineral-rich soils, creates ideal growing conditions for the Kisi grape variety.
