Vineyard

We are convinced that great wine can only be made from the finest grapes. And healthy grapes grow only in natural, biodiverse vineyards.

Our organic vineyard is located in the heart of eastern Georgia’s wine region, Kakheti – between the foothills of the Greater Caucasus and the Alazani River, far from any civilization and surrounded by meadows, trees, and other vineyards.

Our Philosophy

Healthy Soil

  • No drip irrigation: So that the roots grow deep and absorb valuable minerals.
  • No ploughing: To allow the underground ecosystem and its important organisms to develop naturally.
  • Terroir in the wine: The more natural the soil, the more the different facets of the terroir can express themselves in the wine – making it unique and exciting every year.

Biodiversity in the Vineyard

  • Letting nature do the work: We work carefully and respectfully because we aim for high biodiversity. In a healthy vineyard, hundreds of species of beneficial insects live and thrive.
  • No chemicals: For plant protection we use pheromone traps; copper-based organic plant protection products are only used when necessary.
  • No herbicides: Because no one wants these toxins in their wine. Instead, we mow the grass regularly.

Grape Varieties

In our organic vineyard, we cultivate these four endemic grape varieties:

Kisi

  • Origin: Georgia
  • Type: amber/orange
  • Area: 0.7 ha

Kisi is an ancient Kakhetian white grape variety. During the Soviet occupation, it fell largely into oblivion as the focus shifted to higher-yielding varieties. Over the last 30 years, Kisi has seen a strong resurgence in cultivation. The wines are aromatic and complex, with notes of ripe stone fruits, honey, and dried herbs.

Khikhvi

  • Origin: Georgia
  • Type: amber/orange
  • Area: 0.5 ha

Khikhvi is a historic white grape variety from eastern Georgia. For a long time, however, it played only a minor role in viticulture and was frequently blended with other varieties. In recent decades, Khikhvi has experienced a revival driven by smaller wineries. Typical features include intense aromas of apricot, honey, and spices.

Rkatsiteli

  • Origin: Georgia
  • Type: amber/orange
  • Area: 0.7 ha

Rkatsiteli is one of Georgia's oldest grape varieties. During the Soviet occupation, the focus unfortunately shifted to quantity. Since independence, however, Rkatsiteli has been experiencing a quality-driven renaissance. Today, it is used to produce highly diverse wine styles: ranging from fresh, fruity white wines to complex, tannin-rich orange wines.

Saperavi

  • Origin: Georgia
  • Type: red
  • Area: 1.5 ha

Saperavi is one of Georgia's most significant and deeply rooted grape varieties. It has been cultivated in Kakheti for centuries and was early on a central pillar of Georgian wine culture. The wines are powerful, dark, and long-lived, with intense aromas of black fruits, spices, and sometimes earthy notes.
